Pretreatment with Chitosan Prevents Fusarium Infection and Induces the Expression of Chitinases and β-1,3-Glucanases in Garlic (Allium sativum L.)

چکیده

Fusarium infection decreases the yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.); however, knowledge about response to fungal attack is limited. Chitosan induces plant defense stress conditions. Here, we analyzed effects chitosan with low (Ch1, 39 kDa) and medium (Ch2, 135 molecular weight on in garlic. Ch1 Ch2 at concentrations 0.125–0.400 mg/mL suppressed growth proliferatum cultures vitro. Pretreatment bulbs or prevented disease symptoms after F. inoculation, while exerting early inhibitory late stimulatory chitinase β-1,3-glucanase activities. Ch1/Ch2 treatment already infected caused transcriptional upregulation chitinases β-1,3-glucanases stage, which was maintained stage Ch2-treated samples, but not Ch1-treated where inhibition observed. The effect pretreatment expression endo-β-1,3-glucanase genes stronger than that pretreatment, suggesting could be more effective pre-sowing bulbs. Our results provide insights into Fusarium, a novel strategy protect crop against infection.

Garlic (Allium sativum)

Overview Garlic’s current principal medicinal uses are to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, as an antimicrobial, and as a preventive agent for cancer. The active constituents are several complex sulfur-containing compounds that are rapidly absorbed, transformed and metabolized. Pooled data from numerous randomized trials suggest that garlic low...

Regulation of miR394 in Response to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cepae (FOC) Infection in Garlic (Allium sativum L)

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of post-transcriptional regulators that negatively regulate gene expression through target mRNA cleavage or translational inhibition and play important roles in plant development and stress response. In the present study, six conserved miRNAs from garlic (Allium sativum L.) were analyzed to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in response to Fusarium oxysporum...

Low temperature conditioning of garlic (Allium sativum L.) “seed” cloves induces alterations in sprouts proteome

Low-temperature conditioning of garlic "seed" cloves substitutes the initial climatic requirements of the crop and accelerates the cycle. We have reported that "seed" bulbs from "Coreano" variety conditioned at 5°C for 5 weeks reduces growth and plant weight as well as the crop yields and increases the synthesis of phenolic compounds and anthocyanins. Therefore, this treatment suggests a cold s...

The Chemical Compositions of the Volatile Oils of Garlic (Allium sativum) and Wild Garlic (Allium vineale)

Garlic, Alliumsativum, is broadly used around the world for its numerous culinary and medicinal uses. Wild garlic, Allium vineale, has been used as a substitute for garlic, both in food as well as in herbal medicine. The present study investigated the chemical compositions of A. sativum and A. vineale essential oils. The essential oils from the bulbs of A. sativum, cultivated in Spain, were obt...
